My children would tell you that I’ve been baking for as long as they can remember: the sound of the kitchen aid mixer running early in the morning is a constant theme in my home. My co-workers would tell you much the same thing, as would friends. I would tell you that I love to bake, cook, and quilt.
I love to bake both at home, and at our cottage. There, by the lake, you’ll find Chateau Elma: a small tree house where my children spent much of their time when they were young, imagining and creating. My kitchen is my Chateau Elma: the place where I spend time experimenting recipes and using my creative energy in a way that brings my family and friends together.
Now that my children are young adults and growing into their own, it is so rewarding to have them bring their friends together in our home. It is even more enjoyable for me to cook and bake for them and have them return time after time.
I started this blog as a way to chronicle my culinary adventures, both within Chateau Elma and beyond. Since baking, cooking, and crafting make me happy, I hope I can share that with all of you. I hope this blog inspires you to spend time in your kitchen – or whatever space it is that brings you joy.
